Some reviewers seem unaware that this product only adjusts the power connections and does not change the voltage. So complaints like "my electric toothbrush burned out" are silly. My electric toothbrush clearly states that it only runs on 110-120VAC, so of course it will burn out if connected to 220VAC! This extension cord is for use ONLY with 220-240 VAC appliances. Check your hardware first! Many phone and laptop chargers work well with 110-120 VAC or 220-240 VAC. But not everything will work with the higher voltage used in Europe. Speaking of outlets in Italy, during my trip I came across two different types of AC outlets in the hotels we visited. Some hotels had heavy duty and/or 3-prong outlets that easily fitted the large prongs on this extension. One hotel had smaller diameter round pins on the outlet, but they provided an adapter for plugs like those used on that power strip. How kind of you! Some hotels had sockets with only small prongs, but being warned I brought an adapter to convert from the large prongs on this extension to the round prongs on the smaller diameter socket. These adapters are easy to find and inexpensive. Revain sells these, although I have to admit I bought mine at my local travel gear store before I bought this extension. As a result, I certainly never had any connection problems during my two-week visit to Italy. Of course, this extension cord is a bit big. But look at the size of the outlets and the number of outlets provided. How much smaller do you think it could be built? The size was fine as far as I understood. It fits easily in my suitcase. Although it was very durable, it wasn't heavy. I'm so glad I took it with me. Most hotels only had one or two free outlets at most, and we had to charge at least a couple of phones and a laptop every night.
