I am reworking a 22 year old deck and replacing a PT deck with Azek. I bought three rolls of these to fit all the joists. I quickly realized that this would be a very expensive proposition because the deck is so big. I also saw that most beams didn't seem to need help even after 22 years. The only suspects of rot were those that happened to be parallel to the floor covering and thus filled the gaps between the floorboards. Leaves and dirt get into these cracks and stay wet for a long time. I also sometimes used multiple layers as padding material when I had a slightly lower beam. This seemed to work very well. I also taped it to the tops of some posts below deck. The product seems to be very durable, elastic and flexible. However, sometimes the paper tape covering the sticky side didn't come off completely and I had to pluck at it. Very annoying. This happened despite the product being stored, protected, etc. in it. I used it in the 50's and 60's. I will say that where I've used it, plain matte black looks beautiful; better than new wood. There is a competing product that says everything that resembles my deck. Having just put it on I can't say how it will hold up and I don't know how I'll rate it over the years as it's under my very low deck. I love it though and it's a very high quality product and I think I'll find other uses for it over the years.
