Review on πŸ•οΈ Montana 6-Person Coleman Tent by Darth Calder

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Rating for 3 years by an experienced tourist.

My family and I have had this tent for almost three years now. My wife and I averaged about 10 camping trips a year before we had kids. Now we have two small children, so we don't go there that often. We did long hikes up and down the east and west coasts. Needless to say we have a decent camping experience. We bought this tent about 3 years ago when my wife got pregnant with our first child so we could have more space. Since then the tent has been used for our usual 4-5 trips a year. The tent was well maintained. Never clean up wet and store it in our large camping box in the garage. BENEFITS - Not too expensive - Enough space for a family of 4 plus a dog and gear - Fairly easy to set up - Packs up relatively compactly. CONS - The cord connecting the poles has lost its elasticity making it impossible to assemble properly - The pegs that come with the tent are small. They work but the lines tend to slip out. The part of the peg that is above the ground and fixes the anchor point is too short. Over time, the raincoat began to leak. With constant precipitation, the fly now saturates and begins to drip into the tent. As you can imagine, waking up in small puddles with your sleeping bags soaked through and cold children restless is very frustrating. TIP - No scary tent for occasional campers. The assembly is easy and the beginner will not have any problems. Probably good for a trip or two a year somewhere that doesn't get much rain. Basically SoCal. This tent is not for those who hike regularly and are looking for a durable tent. You will inevitably be left with useless rods and rain flies that will get you wet. This is especially true if you live in an area where it rains often or not at all. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more for a better tent now. Otherwise you'll be looking for a new one in a few years.
