I bought this brush to help with my long beard. After a year of growing, the beard touched my chest and became unruly. I use it every morning after my shower to detangle tangles and add beard balm to keep my beard smooth and shaped. He's doing great. It's not too big like a comb and softer than plastic brushes. I disagree with other reviewers that the brush is scratchy or too hard. The beard is all wet from the balm. Beard brushes should not be used on dry, oil-free, or damp beards. The brush should be stiff enough to get the bristles through thick beard hair, detangle tangles, and move the hair in the right direction. With this brush you can shape your beard and let the hair lie flat.
