Review on 🔧 IRWIN Tools Bi Metal Installation Kit 3111002 by Scott Clayton

I'm no pro at installing door lock kits but I've installed about 40-50 of these locks. I usually just use a template and everything works fine. This time I know I'll be installing an extra set of security touchpad locks and I need it in 30 minutes. I thought it would reduce installation time and it worked. I took it out of the blister and saw for the first time that there were no screws to attach it to the door. No problem. The new lock has screws so I used them (see picture). The door is steel so as the instructions say I cut big holes on each side before pushing it in which worked great. Note: It's only $25. so it's plastic. Set the drill to slow speed. If you use it wide open like I did it will melt the plastic. (see blue color in the photo). I then drilled a 1" bolt hole and it worked. solid but the tabs fit snugly into the bolt holes you leave when using the jig. The so called cutter isn't very good but knowing this I have those Drilled guide about 10 times then used as a rotozip blade to finish it off It worked perfectly!I ended up with a chisel which only took a minute and the panel fit like a glove.Overall I'm glad I did got it and will use it again.I did the whole job in less than 15 minutes plus another 15 to install the new lock.My goal of 30 minutes was met.
