I have used this for rice, it works great for measuring the correct number of cups for my rice cooker. I have a similar container but the opening looks like a hatch and although it works well for pouring cereal into a bowl or other things like pasta or dry mixes into a saucepan or large measuring cup. He tends to spill things like rice when trying to measure a cup. They solved this problem by incorporating a funnel and capping it with a measuring cup that snaps on top. It could probably be improved a bit by making it thicker and not so high to have more closet space. It's an improvement over what I've used for rice, however, and I don't sweep grains off my kitchen floor. The design might require setting up the locking tabs for the top with hinges instead of just bending the plastic. They'll break eventually, but since you don't use them too often (only when refueling) they should last a reasonable amount of time and the cost is pretty cheap. highlighted.
