Review on 🐠 Hygger Titanium Tube Submersible Saltwater Tank Aquarium Heater with Digital Thermostat, IC Temp Controller - 50 to 200 Watt by David Kits

Forget old glass tube heaters.

After years of buying glass tube radiators and even trying to control them with external thermostats, I've finally invested in one. Great performance for my 90 gallon tank and the temperatures and settings outside the tank and in sight couldn't be better. There is no more algae on the heater, so it is not possible to check the temperature setting or see the light. A temperature sensor can be installed at the other end of the tank to let you know the entire tank is at the correct temperature. You can always see the actual temperature and set point with big red numbers. I have encountered a problem with tubular heaters, when mounted vertically they seem to cycle on and off as the heater heats the thermostat. So that means you're not getting the heater's full rated output because it's working too hard. There are no such problems here. I had a small issue that didn't affect functionality: sometimes the thermostat switched to Celsius. I don't know if this happens randomly, or if my kids play around with it, or if it happens when the power goes out. But that happens a few times. The setpoint stays set, which is fine, but with the exchange between F and C when set to C, the temperature can drop a degree F below the set value. Not a big deal and I'm not sure why that's happening. Maybe it's the cat banging on the buttons or something. Again, this had no impact on functionality. The suction cups aren't exactly outstanding either, but the suction cups usually have to be changed regularly.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive
