I bought this antenna to tune to the 10m band (28.300 to 29.700MHz). When I hooked it up to my FT-857D and tuned it in, it sounded like my tuner was printing out a stinky term paper! So here's the problem. Regular CB frequencies live in the 11 meter band (26.965 to 27.405 MHz) but this antenna doesn't even tune there. After delving deeper into the amateur side of HF and purchasing a RigExpert antenna analyzer, I found that this antenna resonates at around 26,300MHz. This means that being able to "tune" this antenna is counterproductive (when you turn the tuning screw you lengthen the antenna and further tune it from where it should resonate. To solve this problem, does this antenna need to be tuned to about 29,700 first then lengthening the tuning screw tune it to both the 10m and CB tape wrapped wire as I analyzed it and got it to tune to both the 10m as well as swinging on the CB band the picture I posted shows how much wire I had to remove to get it on CB band I then adjusted it to 28.480, used tape, to cover the exposed wire. Then I ordered a hamstick.I will be tuning this antenna back to CB range and using it there if I ever need to dust my CB.
