Where the lid slides there is a small gap between the bottom of the lid and the top of the front panel. It was hard to see at first, but after trying to feed my spider some sort of flightless FF, I saw them just casually pop out of the gap and fly to freedom on my kitchen floor. I fixed it by taping the gap but it wasn't meant to be taped over. Good luck getting to the bottom too. If you have adult-sized hands, you'll need tweezers and/or small tools to get there. The magnet on the lid is well designed to securely hold items larger than fruit flies and requires no assembly.
