I've had one of these in my Scout backpack for years. I highly recommend unfolding it, folding it to length, adjusting it to the curve of your spine, and then slipping it into your back pocket as a handy stiffener for your backpack. It weighs next to nothing, helps support the inner frame and is easily accessible in an emergency. It can be molded into various configurations to splint a leg, an arm and even a temporary neck collar if you know how. These generics receive top marks for value and functionality. However, I'm missing the instructions printed on the foam (which I've only seen on official SAM tires). The blank suits me because I've been using it for years. They're a little less useful for my scouts, who have to use them if I break my leg.
