You get what you pay for

I give it two stars because it plays multiple DVD regions as advertised and the installation was easy. But you really do get what you pay for. He didn't even get through a DVD before dying in the middle of an episode. It looked like it had paused, but the "play" icon was still on the display. I tried every button on the remote, the power button on the back of the player, unplugged it and left it alone for a few hours but nothing worked. I couldn't even turn it off until I flipped the switch on the back. When I tried again later it wouldn't turn on and my TV didn't register that anything was plugged into that HDMI socket. I had to undo all the screws and take it apart to get the drive back! The disc was not damaged (new), there was no dust or dirt inside the player, everything was fine with the jack and the HDMI cable (I connected my old DVD player and it worked fine). My biggest mistake was waiting too long to make sure this player worked. I tested it as soon as I received it to make sure it was really region free, but then I didn't use it for about two months and now it's past the return period. Maybe mine was just defective, but I'll be a little less stingy next time without a region.

  • Great
Cons
