Alright. Unlike some other low dollar tips. The threads are good enough that you can turn them by hand when aligning the speakers. As mentioned others. when used in wood such as MDF (which most speakers are made of). The base tends to unscrew from the wood rather than the tenon unscrewing from the base. This most often happens when you've tightened the lock nut and are trying to loosen it to make an adjustment. So I recommend not tightening the nut until you are done with the alignment. Maybe just leave them dressed forever. OR. What I did was prepare some epoxy when I first installed them. Screw the bases to the tree. then let her go for a bit. Put some epoxy on the threads and retighten. Then they should work just as well as anything at any price.
