I bought one of these about 3 or 4 years ago and it's by far one of my most used tools in the kitchen. If you're not careful, everything will be cleaned, including the skin on your finger. However, since all tools are consumables, don't expect an item costing less than twenty dollars to last a lifetime. If the manufacturer made the frame of the blade out of metal, two things would happen; Firstly, the item costs a lot more and secondly, the probability of breakage increases since ceramic is durable yes, but unbreakable no. I've just bought 2 more of these in case they go out of production. If you want it to last longer, clean slowly and in a controlled manner. After all, they are not made for removing the bark from a branch. With all the money people are spending on gadgets these days, it's a bargain to get even a year off from an item like this for fifteen bucks. Stop whining and buy another one or two like me.
