The directions are very simple, absolutely follow the first-use directions and expect the possibility of a little smoke.I've only made one loaf with this, I followed the cinnamon raisin recipe that came with the machine. The raisin mix did not mix into the dough, instead ended up becoming a raisin-y, sugary crust on the outside of the loaf. Tasty, yes, not what I wanted. Advice I've found online says to add in mix-ins much earlier.The machine is much quieter than I had expected. The buttons don't match up 100% to what the directions say, but the function is the same (think crust vs color as a label).Despite following the care instructions, the picture shows damage the basket received during the course of making the bread. That's not from washing, scrubbing, anything like that. That's how my pan looked after I rinsed out the cinnamon raisin residue, and I wiped it out with a damp cloth prior to taking the picture. This loss of coating is on both sides where the basket indents. The mixing paddle/blade also has damage where the non-stick wore off on the edge, and it's only on one face of it. I'm baffled though because the blade shouldn't be able to reach these indented portions, but bread dough shouldn't be able to scrape non-stick coating off the basket and blade.
