Great product, but Comcast makes installation difficult!

I read reviews about this product (many negative) and I still decided to buy it. I have had several Netgear products in the past and they have always been reliable and work as advertised. In addition, it is one of the few routers that is a modem, router, WiFi (2.4+5G) and VOIP device in one. Most products do not have VOIP or Wi-Fi and require the purchase of two separate devices. I decided on a Netgear all-in-one and bought it from Revain. About a month ago I successfully installed the product through the Comcast/Xfinity service and it works great. There are many headaches during the installation process and it can be frustrating for those who don't have the patience. ** You must speak to a Comcast agent to activate this router. ** This is the hard part. Comcast has an automated phone system and every time you call they try to connect and then ask you to reset your router. After the third try, I was finally connected to a real person. They will ask you to enter the MAC address to continue. It is located on the bottom of the device. I then had to reboot the router two more times for Comcast to finally activate the router and add it to my account. The whole process took 30 to 40 minutes. Once connected, you can set up WiFi. To log in for the first time, you need the SSID and password printed on the bottom of the device. You can then change it to the SSID/password of your choice. It has a very user-friendly interface that includes 2.4G and 5G options, guest accounts, and parental controls. The WiFi range is much better than our previous Netgear router. Our office is at the opposite end of the house from where we place the router. It's always been difficult to get a good signal there. Now we have excellent signal strength and never any problems. Based on my experience I would recommend this product. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: All-in-one device (tethering, router, WiFi and VOIP). Excellent WiFi range when crossing multiple rooms and walls. Convenient user interface to create accounts and manage WiFi. Cons: A lengthy and time-consuming installation process for the device (although I blame Comcast/Xfinity for this, not the device itself). The device is bulky compared to our latest Netgear router, measuring 11" x 10" x 2.5". I don't understand the size as most consumer electronics are getting smaller and smaller.

  • Worth the money
Cons
  • There are doubts
