The lid is well made and can be drilled out if necessary.

This lid is perfect for my 2018 5 gallon cans with no spills and it's a good solid lid that slides out when needed. It has a brown o-ring just like the original nozzle that comes on the can. I drilled out this connector and installed a bulkhead fitting so I could connect the brass nipples and gas hoses on either side. I use this with my two Honda eu2200 alternators so I can just unscrew the cap on an empty one and pop in a full 5 gallon can in about 30 seconds. This allows me to run my generators for extended periods of time without worrying about running out of fuel.
