Very quiet device. quiet enough to be able to sleep in the bedroom or children's room. The amount of heat generated is very good considering the size of the item. A low-speed, low-volume fan provides enough airflow to move that heat about 10 feet. Now for the bad news. This item was manufactured in a factory, or at least part of it. These manufacturing processes leave oils and other residues on the heating elements inside. It will take a long time for these smells to dissipate. If you've ever run a self-cleaning cycle on a new oven, that's EXACTLY the smell of burning and electricity you need to contend with. So plan on putting this item in your garage or porch for a few days before bringing it indoors for use.
