These boots fit my 7lb Maltese perfectly and are just what he needs. Although they are said to keep out the heat, they actually protect him from freezing the pavement in the snow, which he has been unable to endure for the past few days. At first, when the first shoes appeared, he walked strangely, but on the second walk his condition improved significantly, and on the third he was already walking! And I could walk down 2 flights of stairs. So it took a little getting used to, but it served its purpose perfectly. Contrary to other reviews I think the velcro is in the right place to hold it. He has very small, thin legs and they didn't fall off. I ordered the XS and it has enough room and enough velcro to attach it to. I wish the underside had a little better rubber grip.
