mixed feelings about this product (updated*)

**UPDATE** I will try to return it. I only used the blue (lowest) setting, but one day at work I was very cold and turned it to the highest setting. I would say it shut down after 40 minutes. Even more concerning is that my phone headset was plugged into the same power strip and unplugged at the same time. It didn't restart until I unplugged the heating pad and restarted the extension cord. I no longer feel comfortable using it at work let alone at home. I've read a number of reviews and personally agree with the reviewer who mentioned questionable security. It heats up in seconds, and even on the lowest setting (blue light) - it's the only level I've used - it's hot enough that over time I start to worry about my keyboard. I moved the mat so my keyboard was on top hoping it would help and didn't find it interfering with my mouse like other reviews say! I was worried about layering my mouse pad so I bought a wrist support pad that works great! I don't leave it on when I leave my desk and notice that even pressing the white key turns it on immediately. Generally it WORKS, I'm immunocompromised and at work I often fall to borderline hypothermia and my hands and feet are always very cold - to the point where it hurts/slows it down and it really helps. I think it will stay, but the sides are already coming loose along the seam, as the elastic "seal" is easily erased. It is very thin and has a large area, which is ideal. at least possible. Time will tell, but with careful use, hopefully it will last and the benefits outweigh the risks!
