Review on πŸ”ͺ Sunnecko 8 Inch Serrated Bread Knife - German High Carbon Stainless Steel with Wood Handle Gift Box - Professional Knife for Homemade Bread - Razor Sharp & Durable by Sharon Fuller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great bread knife with serrated edge. This time the performance matches or exceeds the aesthetics!

Let me start by saying that I am a professional home and personal chef and teach cooking. Knives are essential tools for me in my culinary pursuits, and I am picky and critical. I have tested and reviewed MANY knives here at Revain and elsewhere. I will commend those who deserve it and sharply criticize those who don't. For me, the most important thing is that the knives I use are for "cooking" and not for "looking". Performance, construction and ergonomics are key metrics, not aesthetics, for an honest critical review. This 8 inch serrated bread knife from Sunnecko is a difficult review for me. First of all, I am most interested in performance and least in aesthetics. This is a beautiful knife with an attractive Pakkawood handle, beautiful presentation box and beautiful rivets on the full shaft design. This usually makes the knife suspect in performance, often more for "looking" than for "cooking". However, I'm very impressed with the performance numbers I test the knives for and I'm surprisingly happy to provide positive feedback. And here's why: * The knife has a one-piece shaft and the handle is well riveted for safety. * The bolster has a gentle curve, which makes it very comfortable to use for those who use a plucking handle when working with knives. No sharp edges that can be uncomfortable with prolonged use.* The balance of the knife matches the bead, making it a pleasure to use. Not heavy at the front. * The steel used is excellent for this type of knife and the blade is razor sharp. *Although these knives are called "bread knives", these serrated knives are great for slicing soft-skinned vegetables like tomatoes. .enables a very clean cut. This knife excels at these tasks.* The Pakkawood handle is ergonomic and comfortable to hold. Regular wiping down with food grade Butcher Block Oil will help keep the handle in tip-top shape. What I don't care about: * The notches on the tip of the blade are more for aesthetics than any purpose. On chef's knives and santoku knives, such notches are usually designed to prevent food from sticking to the blade as you cut. The bread knife doesn't need this feature so I think it's an unnecessary addition, but it doesn't stop the knife from working as intended. Crate. Bust. However, it makes a great gift if that is the purpose of the purchase. * 8 inches on the shorter side of available bread knives. Personally, I prefer reusable 10-inch serrated knives. My final verdict is an unexpected five star rating based on performance and construction over aesthetics. Reasonable price and great deal if there is a coupon I can honestly recommend this bread knife for the home kitchen where it not only works very well but also looks good if that is the indicator for you. Overall a good knife! Enjoy your meal! !
