I bought this mattress pad to cushion a very hard mattress. a few days before putting it on my bed (the instructions say 48 hours. I had high hopes that this topper would help me sleep well as my friend had a 2 inch memory topper on a similar mattress and he reported a huge improvement. Instead I woke up with sore hips. Then I tried to figure out why my new topper wasn't working. So I compared the two pads. First I noticed that the two pads were very different densities. The new pad was much lighter and easier to compress. Second, I noticed that the new gasket wasn't 2" thick. It was 1 1/4" thick and the ribs were 3/4". They broke very easily. Too thin actually to soften a hard mattress I highly recommend you do not buy this topper and I will try to return it Please note that the heading says 'free returns' but the cl imprinted indicates that the item must be in new and unused condition. This is not possible as the topper comes compressed in a small box and cannot be repackaged.
