Review on Dorman 902-408 Radiator Filler Neck Upgrade for Enhanced SEO by Brett Blazis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Much cheaper than Toyota wanted and fits perfectly!

Fits perfectly on my 2007 Sienna LE 3.5L. The review pointed out that unlike mine it does not come with the horseshoe ring pictured. This ring is a "lock" that holds the filler neck. The horseshoe ring slips/snaps after installing a new filler neck. Make sure the horseshoe ring is installed so that the lugs on the ring align with the lugs on the filler neck. After reading other reviews and seeing the difficulty of removing the old cracked filler neck, I decided to cut SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY. Use various sized hacksaws to remove the old filler neck as the filler neck retainer on the radiator is made of plastic and can break if handled roughly. Sawing it off took about 15 minutes including removing the old "horseshoe" ring first with a screwdriver from underneath after removing the horseshoe ring mount. Sawn where the ring used to be because there is a gap between the old filler neck and the radiator neck that allows room to cut the filler neck without damaging the radiator neck. If the old filler neck is sawn off on both sides, it can be easily loosened outwards (the retaining ring on the filler neck only holds it). The rest of the old filler neck on the radiator cannot be rotated as it is held in a straight position by a notch in the filler neck and a mating tab on the radiator neck, but does not need to be rotated as pulling straight on it lets it out easily. The total time for removing the old one and installing the new one is 20 minutes. The local Toyota dealership wanted $400 for a whole new radiator since Toyota sells more than just the radiator filler neck. Even trying to get a cooler OEM online is $293 AND you would have to take the whole cooler off! A much better solution is to simply swap out the filler neck. If the dealer replaces the entire cooler, I can easily see why other reviews have listed it for $750-$900.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
