The connection is a bit too small.
The small white rectangular connector was too small but only visible to the naked eye when connected. I recommend testing the derailleur before installing all the nuts and the console to make sure yours aren't slipping out. In the end most of the parts were replaced with the old handle to keep it working safely and reliably.
