Amazing scanner with a 3/4 inch binding clip for 4 cents. Setup was relatively easy (but I'm a gadget lover, so I'm used to installing software/devices/etc). Out of the box the scans were TERRIBLE because NOTHING was even remotely straight (yes I used tiny paper guides but they are too short). Instead of returning the product and looking for another product, I found an incredibly easy/inexpensive solution to my problem - place a 3/4" paper clip on the top/left edge of the flip paper holder (exactly in the right corner ). . The clamp acts as a second guide (essential) to ensure the paper feeds directly into the scanner. You could try a smaller clip on the right, but there's not much room for it and to be honest it's not really needed. I scanned a few hundred pages and it's 99.9% very flat with a clip. If you keep the clip open all the time then you can roll up the extensions almost all the way and you can close the paper tray almost all the way too - not perfect, but close enough that the footprint is small when not in use. Little thing that Scanner is amazing and super fast (even double sided - which is why I bought this model). Too bad the brother didn't spend a little more time designing and testing his product before releasing it - maybe they can supply new scanners with a binding clip (upgrade kit)? giggle
