I say use whatever works for you. This was the best starter sippy cup we used. Yes sometimes the lid messes up and ends up leaking but like with most baby products I will buy whatever works for my son and he uses. I took away traditional bottles when he started putting his hands up and messing around so about the 3 month mark. These have a regular nipple. So I would always help guide his hands on bottle and because it's so small it is very light weight for him. Now at 5 months he is fully transitioned to the second nipple that this bottle comes with and holds his own bottle and uses sippy cups.
