I was surprised by the flexibility of the rubber mold. There is no lip around the top of the mold to prevent water from running out of the mold instead of into the adjacent cubic glass. I use bottled water and the water runs onto the countertop. Each cube must be filled individually, resulting in different sizes for each cube. If you deepen the sticks 1/4 inch, each cube will be the same size and the water will drain into the adjacent bowl instead of out of the mold. Then nothing is spilled. The cubes will not come loose from the mold unless the tray is heated outside of the freezer for about 20 minutes, after which time the ice on the outside will begin to melt. Twisting the flexible silicone will not release the ice cube as it freezes. I like the size of each cube and don't have to make ice cream as often with the smaller cube trays.
