Really loud but in shambles

This device is insanely loud. Your dog and kids will run for cover when you turn this thing on. But it shreds multiple sheets with ease, although it gets even louder and slower when you try to shred 10 sheets. It's also compact, about the size of a backpack. A great option for everyday use, not recommended for the office.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Update available

Good product! about office electronics

After 20 years in the US government I was spoiled with expensive shredders used in secret areas. I prepared myself to be a little disappointed in a home use model. But not really! I was very pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended! I plan on oiling the blades well and I think that might be the key. I bought a pack of oil leaves but then ordered liquid oil from Revain.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • hard to say

Ok, but there is room for improvement.

Still working after 15 months. Creaks and slows down when I load more than 4 standard sheets. I recommend lining it with a kitchen-sized plastic trash bag to collect and contain the clumps. If the clumps build up high enough, the head will pull them back and tend to get stuck. It can be difficult to clean. More recently, the head got stuck because of the traffic jam. It took a hell of a long time to empty the feed slot, but it worked again in the end.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Some bugs

Know what you are buying

The Fellowes Powershred 60Cs is a great machine and Fellowes make great products. You should be aware that this is a heavy machine/shredder. All of the weight is on the blade at the head of the chopper. The bucket is made of plastic and weighs nothing. Removing the head from the bucket is difficult due to the weight. When the head is taken out of the bucket, little pieces of paper are scattered everywhere. If you don't place the machine in a convenient location for emptying, you could knock…

Waste of time best in paper shredders

Same problems as previous post. This car broke down and jammed in just a month of ownership and I can't fix the jam. This has never happened to me with a Fellowes chopper, which is very disappointing. I shred old bills, junk mail, and old school supplies 1-5 pages at a time. It is said to be able to withstand 10. It can't hold the flames of my old Fellowes that lasted 10 years or more. It seems Fellowes is trying to make things more complicated than they need to be. I prefer the simplicity of…

Missing features, good for office electronics

This shredder was a big disappointment. It is programmed to only grind for 3 minutes before starting a 40 minute non-skippable chill timer. Which is probably a good thing, because by the time you get to about 2 minutes of shredding, the motor is barely capable of shredding a sheet, and at a much slower rate. It even sounds stressful just working without cropping up to this point. As for 6 sheets - you need to do this when the device is fresh - and even then I doubt it could destroy 4 sheets…

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • unreliable

Don't waste money!

**UPDATE** I downgraded this grinder to 1 star because after finally clearing the previous jam it became 4 times more clogged in just a few days. even after sending one page after the other! Even after unscrewing the lid to make it easier to clean it, I didn't succeed and couldn't clean it. Sooooo disappointed in this chopper after less than a year of use. It will go in the trash. DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY! That's a plus 😤 The only reason this shredder gets 2 stars is because it shreds the paper…

Safe Sense Error - Paper slot too narrow

This shredder was a real disappointment and I had to return it. The first time I used it, it worked perfectly. I didn't care about the slot you put the paper in because it's very narrow and you have to line the paper up correctly to feed it, but I was willing to live with it. However, two days later I tried again and the "Safe Sense" light was constantly on and wouldn't go off no matter what I tried. If the Safe Sense light is on, the grinder is not working at all. I emailed Fellowes support…

  • Poor repairability

Solidly built, SafeSense was a necessary feature!

Need a paper shredder to replace my old cheap model. Was familiar with the SafeSense feature at work and was happy to find this model at a reasonable price. SafeSense was absolutely essential for me to increase security when visiting young people. I got tired of turning off the shredder when we had guests. This model has a large capacity and seems to handle paper well. I usually shred 3-5 sheets at a time, so the "designer" capacity of 10 sheets was fine with me and I had no problems with it…
