Highly recommend as it will be a lot of fun.

What a fantastic little device. I use it with my new boost converter and it works fantastic. You will find several good free programs that are easy to set up and use. You will eventually need a better antenna, but the one provided will help. Works in the VHF band and above. Enjoy.
