I bought these pillowcases because my thick curly hair dries quickly and gets tangled. I did my best (washing together, leave-in conditioner, and wide-toothed combs) and although I could control my hair throughout the day, I always woke up with dry hair that stood on end. . I've seen several recommendations to try silk pillowcases, so given their cheap price I gave them a try. To make sure they really work, I took a photo after sleeping on a cotton pillowcase (left) and after a night sleeping on these silk pillowcases (right). I was surprised at how significant the difference was. An added benefit is that when I wake up my face feels less dry which reduces some of the fine lines around my eyes. Even my mouth seems less dry which may be because they are supposed to be hypoallergenic. As for washing, I put them in the washing machine (cold, gentle) and hung them to dry and they did a great job. In general, this money was worth its money.
