These measuring cups are designed for measuring out messy ingredients like peanut butter, mayonnaise, or tomato paste. I mainly use mine to pour the right amount of water into the coffee maker. For that it works great. I also bought this because the numbers on the previous adjustable mug I had were wearing out. This mug should be able to survive the occasional wash in the dishwasher without washing off the markings. If I have to wash this in the dishwasher every now and then the numbers should survive, but usually I think I'll hand wash it.
