I was a bit apprehensive about installing a new hard drive in my Macbook Pro but when I saw the OWC website and tutorial video it looked very easy so I decided to give it a try to try. I called Best Buy's Geek Squad to see how much they would charge to put a drive in, just in case. They charged me $95 plus tax to install the drive and then another $95 plus tax to migrate all my data and apps. I have to admit, that was the part that scared me the most - moving all my apps to the new drive. I decided to go ahead and try it myself and I could always take it to Best Buy if needed. Let me tell you if I could give OWC 10 stars I would! Their website videos and step-by-step instructions are so easy to use, ANYONE can do it! It literally took me 10 minutes to remove and install the hard drive. Thanks Geek Squad - I saved myself $100 at this point! This product comes with a case for your old hard drive and MUST have special screwdrivers, do yourself a favor and buy these items with your new hard drive! The time consuming part was reinstalling the Mojave OS - I have slow internet and it took about an hour. No problem, do something while the installation is in progress. After reinstalling the operating system, the old hard drive was already connected to the Mac and I simply followed the instructions to transfer files and applications to the new drive. Took 25 minutes and DONE! Saved me another $100 Geek Squad. You can erase the old hard drive and use it as another USB/external hard drive, but I plan on leaving it that way in case I ever need to reinstall the data for some reason. What I really like about OWC is that they have all the videos and instructions you need to do it yourself and a hotline for help if you need it, but that wasn't necessary for me.
