Wow! I don't know what the reviews are saying, difficult to assemble and/or unreliable. I assembled it in about 20 minutes. I used a rubber mallet with each step to ensure all the rods were fully inserted. As for the cover, I opened it up and wrapped it around the internal structure. As soon as I needed to lengthen the lid, I circled over it, lifting the lid about 6 inches each time I got into a corner, until I had enough wiggle room to easily seat the lid on it. the hat part would be easier with another person, I could do it myself with a little patience. I have 14 wedding dresses in it and I will buy another closet for some other extra items. For those interested below, the cap is the bottom, so all sides are closed, the bottom is not open to the ground.
