Terrible design with fatal error

This product is a french press in a tube, but there's an annoying design flaw: no matter how you squeeze it, then twist to secure it, the smaller filter disc at the bottom won't hold up. attached to the brew tube when there is at least one coffee grounds in the thread path. This means as soon as you push the plunger through the tube, the lower filter disc pops out, sending the filter, coffee grounds and hot water into your coffee mug. This creates a huge and annoying mess. The only way to lock it in place is to put a plastic filter disc on the end of the brew tube before adding coffee. This means you slide a round paper filter into the tube, twist it with a knife or other long object, and then pour the coffee grounds into the tube. But if you do it this way, if you add hot water and wait for it to brew, the coffee will inevitably seep through the round filter and end up in a cloudy, grainy coffee. As such, there's no good way to make coffee without filling your mouth with ground coffee and making a mess. I'm sorry I believed the hype and publication, I'm sorry I spent my money on this and now I'm going to buy a $10 French Press. Contrary to what they claim in the alternatives table for this product, you can easily use coarser ground coffee in a French Press and avoid the problem of disassembling the brew tube during brewing. I repeat: no matter how hard you press or twist - and in the end, a good 25 of my colleagues tried to find a way to attach it - this plastic filter disc falls out as soon as you push the brewed coffee through with the plunger at least one ground coffee is next to the threads. What a mess!

Pros
  • Goodbye French Press! The quick AeroPress brew avoids the bitterness and high acidity that comes from long steeping in a French Press. Plus, the AeroPress paper microfilter removes dirt and cleans in seconds.
Cons
  • Some bugs
