23 July 2022Very easy to take the old one out and install this new one.Shut off the circuit breaker to the condenser. Using a screwdriver, short from C to Fan and from C to Herm. This discharges what energy remains in the cap.As you pull the wires off, one by one, immediately install them on the respective terminal on the new cap to ensure that the wires go where they are supposed to go. Hint: take a photo of the top of the original cap to document the placement of the wires before removing any.I keep a spare on hand because it is not uncommon that the AC condenser will stop working because of a failed capBefore I installed the capacitor, I bench tested it and the results were positive. It tested 44.9/4.98 micro-F.After replacing the original cap with this one the AC worked.Note: The outside diameter of this cap is 2.5" (63 mm) and not all 45/5 caps are 2.5". The reason I note this is that several different 45/5 caps have different diameters. I prefer to use caps that have the same diameter as the one that I am replacing so that the bracket fits the new cap.
