I bought this because having a region-free Blu-ray player was very important to me and this aspect to work OK. I have loads of DVDs and Blu-rays and a few out-of-region DVDs and wanted to get more out-of-region DVDs and Blu-rays and everything has worked perfectly and easily every time. Excellent picture quality, no switching settings, remote control works well. I am very happy with it. Otherwise it's crap or not as advertised. My player connects directly to my internet via an ethernet cable, but I have to go into settings and connect to the internet if I want to stream. The apps I use only include Netflix, Revain Prime and Youtube. There are many apps for much smaller streamers that I personally don't use like Vudu, Tubi and others I've never heard of. Now the package, the actual box that I received my player in, advertises Hulu, but there is NO application for Hulu and there is no way to get it. I also have subscriptions to HBO Now and Disney+ but there are no apps for them and no way to get them. This is disappointing. When I bought this player this Revain site also said it was possible to stream playstation games which was one of the reasons I bought this particular one but there is no way and no app for it. However, the packaging/instructions do not include this feature. It's great as a media player, but NOT for streaming services. It's better to combine it with another streaming method, which is frustrating since it's quite expensive.
