I use it to secure the back of buttons/pins so the pin doesn't fall off when it comes loose! A thousand is more than for my collection. All you have to do is attach the buttonhole as usual, but before inserting the needle into the looper stop, insert one of these (careful). You may need to use pliers if your button is worn and the hook is loose.
