I know it sounds weird but I actually bought these to attach to part of the top of an outdoor gazebo. The top of the gazebo is fairly close to the back porch roof and I had a lot of problems last summer with raccoons climbing onto the gazebo's supports and then climbing onto the porch roof where they continued to wreak havoc (destructive little creatures! ). When I received the scat mats I was surprised that they felt a bit thin. But the dots were sharp enough, so I decided to take a risk. As it turns out the mats are very flexible, but they are thicker and stiffer than I thought! They are also easy to crop. But the last piece of evidence is the most important: raccoons no longer climb onto the porch roof. I think I made my point clear! (Ha ha.) Anyway, I also had a rug on the kitchen table for a while when one of my cats insisted on being where it didn't belong. This also worked.
