Review on Infinity KAPPA Selectable Impedance Subwoofer by Nicholas Gendron

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Enough for a mature listener. SQ

This is a well made sub. I transport lawn equipment in my cargo hold, where my JL 13.5 normally lives. On one of my favorite forums, diymobile, this woofer was advertised as a bargain SQ. Esoteric speakers and audio devices are usually recommended. My giant ported JL is clearly out of league. However, this subwoofer is crisp and the attack is fast! And it fits behind the passenger seat. One is almost enough to accommodate my very solid active front stage at full throttle. At 500 watts from my JL 900/5, the subwoofer breaks when the membrane is full. The sealed box is a little big, 0.46ft. Overall this single 8" Infinity is great value and enough for the mature SQ listener. .

Pros
  • Infinity speakers must go through a testing process that destroys smaller speakers. Infinity freezes 'em, bakes 'em, shakes 'em, irradiates 'em with UV light and keeps 'em at full power for days
Cons
  • Weight
