It works as you think it does and looks exactly like the photo. My husband is a bit upset because it isn't as durable as the end table. but it is NOT a side table! We don't have space between the armchair and the sofa for the table. It was the perfect compromise. You can put your drinks on it, but of course they are on the armrest of the sofa. Better not balance red wine there unless you agree it can spill if you accidentally elbow it or reach for the remote in your pocket. This has not happened to us as we are aware of the potential for an armrest problem! But if you need some space to put your coffee or beer on while eating popcorn, if that works great. It's better than leaving your drink on the floor where you knock it over when you get up for your popcorn! And the pockets hold everything you always need. Use them for remote controls. It is durable and as advertised. I find them all overpriced, including this one. But again, it does what I need it to and it won't break. So I'm still happy with it and recommend it for small space problems.
