I buy this grease for my feeders for several reasons: - I have many birds that love grease. In addition to a variety of woodpeckers, it also attracts crested tits, mockingbirds, titmice and others. - Since I feed the birds, I also have a lot of squirrels. Other fat disappears quickly and proteins dominate the feeder, but they don't touch that fat and leave it to the birds. - I live in Florida and the summers are very hot and humid. Many varieties melt and get very mushy in hot weather, but this one doesn't - it keeps its shape even when constantly gnawed by birds. Even a heavy downpour won't dissolve it - frying fats pick up easily, fall into the fat feeder and fingers don't get coated in greasy fat. So I recommend this lard, especially if you have trouble with squirrels dominating your feeders.
