Review on Cool and Fun Craftmade 48-Inch Kids Ceiling Fan: Boys WB348TS Tiger Shark Warplane With Light by Meghan Brown

This fan was purchased for my son's 6MO room. I gave this fan 5 stars for the unique and "cool" factor it has. When I received the box I opened it to check what was needed for installation. It is very similar to all other direct mount ceiling fans. You can not install a bottom pivot if you want. It is mounted directly on the ceiling. Mine doesn't fit the ceiling very snugly, but that didn't seem to matter. It spins very smoothly. The instructions include Canadian requirements, but it's a good idea to follow them for a US installation. Canadian requirements include a "J-Bolt" for added security if the fan somehow falls from the ceiling (it's supposed to be mounted on a framing member, but some don't realize the importance of that). First inspection was a flimsy plastic case with a pathetic looking motor, but the motor is excellent. The body is made of thin plastic, but this is only for beauty and has nothing to do with stability. If you have separate light and fan switches in the wall, I recommend replacing them with fan and light controls (variable speed and brightness). The setting of this fan is difficult to remotely control. The included light is a candelabra, the only bulb that isn't very bright to begin with. Dimmable LED replacement in my future. The lamp is bright enough for my son at the moment. Deflection chains spoil the look, but may be necessary. At a high setting, the fan moves a lot of air. Not at low settings. Medium seems pretty good for moving air without blowing paper all over the room. This is an excellent fan from a well known manufacturer. Craft fans are big fans.
