Review on ♟️ ChengQiSM Magnetic Portable Chess Set - 12X5" Professional Size by Matthew Fadoul

I'm quite a serious chess player and bought this to have something portable that would look and feel like my full size tournament set (many travel sets seem to be wood or faux wood). The pieces are classic Staunton style, well constructed and attractive, complete with a felt base and magnets that are just right: strong enough without being too sticky. I think the personality of the set comes straight from the knights and they have a lot of character. The board is made of durable plastic with a very strong locking mechanism (this is important as the parts can be stored freely inside when closed). It eliminates the usual disadvantage of travel boards that when opened, the seam of the two halves just disappears - well done! The size of the pieces matches the size of the squares very well, and the piece/board ensemble gives the feel of a much larger set (you get the opposite of the "mini" feel) and the letters/numbers around the edges are very different from those valued, record the games and like to read chess books as they have a handy board nearby. Minor issues: My board arrived with a small scratch and dent, but nothing that probably wouldn't show up fairly quickly in normal use. I wish the manufacturer had included some inexpensive cloth bags for the figures - and since they make a bit of noise when stowed away, there is no convenient place to store the captured figures in the car or on the plane when playing. The main issue is the flimsy plastic hinge - let's see how it holds up. But at this price?! Damn buy it! Quality divided by price = value, and there's plenty of that in this set.
