During the summer we can have several weeks of high average temperatures and relative humidity. I have a temperature controlled cigar humidor and use Heartfelt Humidity Balls to stabilize the relative humidity at 65%. However, after a few weeks of high humidity, the spheres are eventually saturated and the relative humidity slowly begins to rise as the humidor is not perfectly sealed and when I open the door the moisture seeps in. These silica-based desiccants do a great job of removing moisture from the humidor and balloons. I put in one or two of these for a day and the humidor is ready to go. You need to keep an eye on the relative humidity so it doesn't get too low. I only have to use them here in Michigan once or twice in the summer to get my RH back under control, the rest of the time the Heartfelt beads do the job. To prepare these pouches for reuse, simply place them in the microwave to heat and remove moisture, then place back in the vapor proof pouch once it has cooled.
