I LOVE my Microwave Rice Cooker!

This pot is almost perfect except it's too small for my family of 6. We're Asian, and you know Asian and rice, right? I can cook 4 cups of rice and my family needs 5-6 cups every day. I'm not talking about the 4 standard measuring cups like the one that comes with this pot, but the 4 (smaller) cups you get when you buy an Asian style electric rice cooker, which is about 2.75 (American? ) measuring cups or the cup that comes with this jug. It cooks rice with a lovely texture (fluffy, tender, cooked through but not lumpy or bland) that I'm sure will satisfy the pickiest of rice-loving Asians. Enlarge my rice picture if you don't believe me. I have a 900 watt oven. I boiled (washed and dried) 4 cups of rice with 5 cups of water at 50% power (450w) for 18 minutes and then let stand 20 minutes before eating. Perfect! The vibrant color combination and minimalistic design are great and perfectly functional - love how the rice paddle is as well as the lid handle, pot handles and lid latch. Brilliant! The compact, streamlined shape doesn't take up much space in your refrigerator. Washing is also very easy as it doesn't have any bulky parts, unlike my old pan which had awkward clip fasteners that broke and was a hassle to clean. The materials and construction are solid, and the thick-walled pan kept the rice warm longer than I did. Expected. The instructions say to cook the rice in the pan using a black strainer, but I removed it and cooked the rice directly in the white pan to make room for the extra amount of rice I wanted to cook. It worked well. There was no boil over, no spills, no sticky residue on the lid (see my photos). I have used the black inner strainer to rinse and drain the rice, wash the veggies and also blanch the veggies by dipping the strainer into the veggies. in it in a pot of boiling water for about 2 minutes. The sieve came out of the boiling cauldron safely. Five stars is not enough. After just one use, I'm already thinking about buying another one. If I have one complaint, it's that the protrusion, which is also the lid handle and rice paddle anchor, can be difficult to grip with wet or greasy fingers. However, this is a fairly minor issue and is far outweighed by the benefits of this great pot. UPDATE June 24, 2017 I just bought another pot so I have a backup for my rice eating family. This is now my favorite kitchen gadget.
