I bought this after reading some reviews to replace my second Pampered Chef which had a broken handle. We used it once and I absolutely love it. Yes, instructions must be read and followed! There were several reviews that mentioned the unit melting and I can only assume they didn't read that the cook times are for an 800w microwave. **Updated 9/2/2019. I've used this stove probably 20 times since I bought it and the thin layer of plastic still comes off the top with steam every time. I can only imagine the chemicals that plastic rice absorbs. I return to the glass.
