Terrible unless you're cooking multiple bowls of rice

It's a lot more than it looks. My first attempt was to make 2 servings of cooked rice (there is a guide for 2 servings). The amount of water and rice barely covered the floor. I followed the instructions exactly. The result was a crispy, raw rice waffle, resembling a crust. I added more water, boiled longer. As a result, it was hardly absorbed in an edible way. I tried it another time, this time with 6 servings. Similar results. Either the heat in my microwave is hotter than any other, or the…

Read the instructions before use because it's awesome.

I bought this after reading some reviews to replace my second Pampered Chef which had a broken handle. We used it once and I absolutely love it. Yes, instructions must be read and followed! There were several reviews that mentioned the unit melting and I can only assume they didn't read that the cook times are for an 800w microwave. I have a 1200w unit, I set it to 70% power and it worked perfectly. The reviews mentioning "peeling plastic" on the lid is NOT plastic, it's leftover rice starch…

Disappointing - Rice Cooker

**Updated 9/2/2019. I've used this stove probably 20 times since I bought it and the thin layer of plastic still comes off the top with steam every time. I can only imagine the chemicals that plastic rice absorbs. I return to the glass. I am disappointed in this product for several reasons. 1) When I first used it, the steam from the rice caused a thin layer of plastic to come off the lid and possibly get into the food. 2) The attachment spatula/spoon above is just stupid. It would be a nice…

I used 4 other brands before Joseph Joseph. This is the best so far.

With other styles I have developed a guide to perfect rice. Calculate your typical finished batch size, 2 cups, 3 cups, 4 cups? Mix 1 cup of rice with 1-3/4 parts of 2 cups of water. Relationship. The extra water is at the bottom, separate from the cooked rice. Determine how long at ? Power level required to boil water. Rinse and add hot tap water. My 900 watt pot takes 4 minutes to boil. Then I move on to a power setting where the rice and water gently simmer/boil for a long time. I set the…

Not as easy as you think

This is a deceptively simple little stove with rather complicated instructions. at least not for this cook. The idea is certainly simple: add water, rice and a microwave. However, the cooking time in the microwave is different for each type of rice and each amount of rice. Two pages of microscopic charts for these times and amounts are "conveniently" included. So I found my reading glasses and good light, squinted and cooked brown rice, one serving, as directed. I ended up with a chewy, hard…

I LOVE my Microwave Rice Cooker!

This pot is almost perfect except it's too small for my family of 6. We're Asian, and you know Asian and rice, right? I can cook 4 cups of rice and my family needs 5-6 cups every day. I'm not talking about the 4 standard measuring cups like the one that comes with this pot, but the 4 (smaller) cups you get when you buy an Asian style electric rice cooker, which is about 2.75 (American? ) measuring cups or the cup that comes with this jug. It cooks rice with a lovely texture (fluffy, tender…

Love love love this amazing Joseph Joseph M-Cuisine Microwave Rice Cooker. I have been a long time fan of JJ product design and own several of their products. But this little microwave rice cooker was a curiosity buy. I saw that on Revain and thought about it. It might be nice if it worked. Cooking rice in the microwave is nothing new to the Chinese. In Asia, every grocery store sells a variety of microwaveable rice packs. But when I saw it in my Revain listings, I was immediately intrigued…
