AeroCatch Plus Flush Hood Latch Review

Expensive but works. Installation is a pain in A$$. Luckily there is enough fault tolerance and I was successful. I used it on the hood of a 1989 Toyota pickup truck. This was tricky and required significant modifications since the radiator mount you attach the cowl pins to is well in front of the cowl. I'm sure it's a lot easier on cars where the radiator mount is farther from the hood.

Even when I'm building a race car I want it to look good and right so I decided to give these hood pins a try after looking at them over the years. The fact that they are flush makes them really beautiful and almost original. You have everything you need except the template which is not that difficult to make. Very good solid clasp, glad I took it. It took a while to install (it's an odd shape) and I had to make some brackets for the aluminum studs it attaches to, but it's not cheap and works great. They're nice and feel solid, I don't think the hood will ever open while they're closed, much stronger than a standard configuration. However, installing on them is not easy. Take your time and measure (the layout) a few times or more, otherwise you might regret it. Took me a few hours because I have a little to learn and things I should have done better, the next set will be much simpler, faster and easier to install. slam the hood. I love these things! First let me tell you that this was my first time installing hood latches and it wasn't as easy as it looked! I had the pins too far away, so the trajectory of their movement was disrupted after the hood was closed. My suggestion for you would be to mark your holes, make your holes, then take the cleats out of the hood and then watch and see where they land. I bought these from Revain years ago and they never really needed them. I recently bought a G8 for Boost and since I went with the highest heat exchanger possible I removed the latch so it can be farther from the radiator/condenser (Your G8 owner shorts the jacket wire and ground wire so your remote control everything still starts working). Very good quality just make sure you put it on right. There is a hole under the latch for water to escape and I didn't see it and there were no instructions on how to put it on. For me it's not a problem, but in winter it can be a problem if you have ice there. I also had to bend the pins to fit without dents, but that could have been avoided if there was at least a picture of them.
