So we have an old video game joystick with games built in. it's like 20 years. We couldn't get it to work as none of our current TVs have audio in/out. With hdmi this is perfect. Yes, the graphics look terrible on newer TVs, but that's not the fault of this device. There is a switch to use it in 1080 or 720 and if I had an old TV that could take the 720 side I'm sure they would look fine but they look good enough for our grand pianos to play. The only thing that might be tricky for some is that the power cable that connects is a USB cable so I have a TV with a USB port on the side and it works fine but my other TVs don't work so we have to operate an extension cable next to the TV with a USB power adapter, since the cable is very short. but overall it's perfect for what we wanted. I would recommend.
