We rent an apartment with floor ventilation. There has been a lot of flooding in our area in the past year. When I got home I heard a ripple that sounded like a washing machine but it was water from our heater trying to work its way through our vents WHICH WERE FULL OF WATER. I put my hand on one of the vents and FEEL little splashes! We haven't experienced any flooding, but we have a real problem with moisture in our apartment and water-loving pests. I bought some small dehumidifier buckets and placed them in several rooms and in the toilets near the vents (to keep our clothes from getting moldy). I was shocked how quickly the buckets broke up near the vents and filled the buckets with water. Now I order these replacement tips and try to change them regularly. I hate stuffy and musty places with a musty smell, so this helps me calm down and get rid of moisture without constantly running the dehumidifier. I just empty the buckets in the toilet and fill them up again. If you have an RV, basement, or other place that tends to get damp and musty, I would recommend purchasing a moisture barrier.
