Review on LAMY Joy Calligraphy Set - Black with Black Ink Cartridges for Enhanced SEO by Tara Ford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good price, good features

Fountain pen for calligraphy. Unlike regular fountain pens, the Joy has a longer barrel (which I didn't know when I ordered it). It comes with 3 tip sections: 1.1mm, 1.5mm and 1.9mm. The ballpoint pen has an oval ink opening and Lamy's signature bright red U-clip on a black plastic barrel. The tip is made of steel and can easily handle both sharp and wide lines. It comes in a beautiful brushed aluminum case with foam dividers for the tips, body, cartridge box and even two cartridge covers. Pros: This pen writes well in cursive and even fancy fonts. The ink flow is good but not too fluid. Changing the spring is easy - screw on the new section and you're done. Cons: I prefer to use my own ink and no converter is included. You can buy a pack of two cartridges for ten bucks more, but I'd rather have a converter included than a box of five extra cartridges. Most people I know use converters to take advantage of the many beautiful new inks that come in so many colors. Wider nibs have some drag - it's not the smoothest or fastest pen, but that might be a function of the width of the nib. . You have to trim it down between writing, otherwise it's hard to start without preparation. With a cap, he writes immediately (in his hands). You can't hang a hat. The longer body makes writing less tiring - the nib is very balanced. I love cursive and calligraphy and find it a lot less tiring than a regular fountain pen. For the price this is a great calligraphy set and I am happy with it.
