these curlers come in a very good case but the instructions don't say if they can be heated in the case so i have took the base out of the packaging before I heated it. You can easily switch between the two heating levels and are ready to use in about 3 minutes. The instructions say to grab it by the top edge of the rubber, but that felt is almost hot, as is the center of the roller! I found it very difficult to manipulate without burning my fingers and dropped it several times to curl my hair while touching the roller as little as possible. Removing the curlers from the base with one hand was also difficult so I couldn't grab a strand of hair and use my other hand to grab the curlers. I had to hold the base with one hand and remove the roll with the other. Small but annoying. The clips held the curlers in place perfectly. When I took off the curlers after 30 minutes, my hair had good volume and a slight wave. When I take the time to curl my hair with curlers, I usually need a more defined curl. But they would be nice for a more casual look. Overall these are good curlers but they don't offer much curl and they need to have a more heat resistant edge for me to be comfortable using them.
